Marv Zauderer
An experienced executive coach with a unique combination of skills and background: technology executive, Founder/CEO, for-profit & nonprofit, licensed mental health professional.
Starting in high school, I spent 20 years in the technology industry, initially in R&D and then in Sales & Marketing, rising to the executive level at such companies as Apple. I then spent 14 years in private practice as a licensed psychotherapist and executive coach.
Hearing the call to work on hunger in my community, I switched careers again, founding and leading ExtraFood: a county-wide, 7/365 food recovery organization that in my 8 years of leadership rescued and delivered 5 million pounds of excess fresh food from businesses and schools, and reached 8,000 vulnerable people per week. ExtraFood was the 2022 California Nonprofit of the Year in Marin and Sonoma Counties, and was named the winner of the Achievement in Nonprofit Excellence award at the 2017 Heart of Marin ceremony (“the Oscars for Marin nonprofits”).
Working closely with my Board to effect a successful year-long leadership transition and step away from ExtraFood, I returned to executive coaching. I’m a careful listener, empathic, collaborative, pragmatic, and action-oriented in my work with individuals, pairs, and groups of coaching clients in person and worldwide via phone and video. And, I’m never far from my sense of humor.
I’m also an executive coach on the team at EQ2 Leadership , a program, held on the beautiful EQ2 ranch in Sonoma County, CA, that activates leaders and catalyzes breakthroughs in team performance through the transformational power of horses.
In addition, I’m a licensed psychotherapist and have a psychotherapy practice, working with clients anywhere in California, Arizona, and Florida by video and locally in person. I hold an M.S. in Counseling Psychology from Dominican University of California, an M.S. in Computer Science from Stanford University, and I’m a Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude graduate of UC Berkeley’s undergraduate program in Computer Science. I’m also a graduate of the Stanford Executive Institute and the Community Choir Leadership Training Program in Victoria, BC, Canada. My pronouns are he/they.
I’m honored to have received the 2022 Dominican University Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. I was one of 5 San Francisco Bay Area leaders who received the 2018 Silver Jefferson Award for Public Service, and I was awarded the Pacific Sun’s 2014-15 Hero of Marin Award for Innovation.
I’m the proud father of two wonderful adult daughters, and in my spare time I love to be with family and friends, sing in community, and ride my bike — preferably with a bakery stop involved.
